A quiet guide to caring for silk scarves

Hand wash cool, never wring, dry flat away from sun. Store rolled rather than folded to protect the hand-rolled edge.

Silk dislikes three things: alkaline soap, direct sun, and the twist of a wringing hand. Avoid those and a scarf will outlast the decade.

Wash in cool water with a pH-neutral soap, press the water out inside a towel, and dry flat in shade.

Roll it for storage. A folded silk eventually keeps its fold, and a hand-rolled hem deserves better.
